Help Out!

You Can Help!

IFCP is currently making efforts on a number of different fronts, via several committees and/or projects. Read more about it to find out how you might be able to help.

Idaho Falls Community Pathways wants your help in improving crosswalk safety in IF. Is there a crosswalk in your neighborhood or path of travel that could be improved by crossing flags? You know your neighborhood better than we do, so please send us your needy crosswalk locations. Please note that the location must have a crosswalk in place for the flags to be approved, but if you think a crosswalk is needed, we will work with the city to try to get that done as well.

All of our crosswalk flags are privately funded and if you would like to help contribute for flags and holders, you can adopt a flag crossing for only $53.00. Donate by using the Paypal link on our homepage, or by contacting one of our officers to use a different method of payment. When using Paypal to donate, you can include a note specifying how you would like your donation used.

You can also help install the flag holders and/or watch out for the flags with us (they find ways to walk away). Send us a note if you'd like to help in that way.

Committees

  • Transportation Network Improvements
    • Streets, sidewalks and other pathways already in existence can be improved to better accommodate people-powered transportation. Establishing bike lanes, building pedestrian bridges, improving crosswalks and curb-cuts, and implementing traffic calming measures are all examples of how we can adapt what has already been built.
  • Safety Issues
    • Cyclist and Motorist Education
    • IFCP works to educate motorists, pedestrians and cyclists about traffic laws, potential hazards, pedestrian and bicycle safety, and pathway etiquette.
  • Fundraising
    • Proposals and Grant Writing
      • Because tax dollars are tight, IFCP seeks and has received additional funding through grant monies to pay for improvements, such as sidewalk repair and construction of bike lanes and multi-use pathways. Funding has come from programs such as the Safe Routes to School Program, HUD Community Development Block Grants, and State Transportation Enhancement Funds.
    • Non-Profit Status
