KIDK television story re IFCP's Crosswalk Flags

On June 30, KIDK television broadcast a toungue-in-cheek piece about IFCP's flags on the west side of the St. Clair and 17th St. intersection (see story/video at http://www.kidk.com/news/22741294.html), demonstrating some confusion over the use of flags there. IFCP members quickly responded with corrections to the story which, in its attempt to entertain, completely failed to acknowledge any benefits that the crossing flags might provide  to the community. KIDK subsequently (July 1) issued a followup story stating (see http://www.kidk.com/news/22793624.html) that funding has limited the number of crosswalk flags provided by IFCP. Fortunately, despite their questionable coverage of the story, KIDK has volunteered to donate time and money to support IFCP's crossing flag program. Please note that IFCP does not currently have an on-line means of collecting donations. For donations to the crossing flags program, please contact Debbie Troester at ddicnt@q.com.

If you woud like to send comments to KIDK about their story, you can contact them via the following email addresses:

Transportation Enhancement program funding suspension:

The Idaho Transportation Board (ITB) recently voted to suspend Transportation Enhancement program funding, one of the few state funding sources for non-motorized transportation projects in the state. As Sue Higgins, secretary of the ITB, informed us

"The decision to suspend Enhancement Program funding, due to the insufficient funding available to address the growing transportation needs, was made at the April 2008 meeting. The draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Program will be presented to the Board for its review next week. After that, the document will be made available for public review and comment. The final STIP will be on the Board's agenda for approval in September."
